My gifted child is dual (or multiple) exceptional. Where can I find more information? PDF Print E-mail

Some children who are intellectually gifted also have the characteristics of another exceptionality such as a learning disability, Asperger's syndrome or ADHD. Gifted students could also have physical or communication challenges just like any other child.

You can learn more about a newsletter dedicated to Twice Exceptional learners at the www.2enewsletter.com website.

An excellent book on this subject by James T Webb entitled Misdiagnosis and Dual Diagnosis of Gifted Children and Adults may be a helpful resource.

You may also wish to seek out the resources of other websites relating to the child's other exceptionalities such as Autism Ontario or LDAO (Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario.)

The Alberta government addresses multiple exceptionalities in their handbook for parents of gifted students called The Journey.
