Welcome to ABC Ontario!
The Association for Bright Children of Ontario / Société pour enfants doués et surdoués de l'Ontario is an all-volunteer, provincially incorporated support and advocacy group, with many chapters across Ontario. It is dedicated to providing information and support to parents of bright and gifted children and adolescents through newsletters, networking, an annual conference and local workshops. It offers the parents' voice to local school boards, educators, professional groups and the Ontario Ministry of Education.

It is with great sadness that the Executive wishes to inform our members of the passing of David Croome, past president of ABC Ontario from 2013-2014, on June 29, 2015. David will be remembered for his tireless advocacy for the needs of Gifted children in Ontario and his extraordinary commitment to ABC Ontario through the Peel chapter over many years. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. A Memorial Fund will be set up in his memory and donations to the fund can be made through the Canadahelps.org link found at the bottom of the page.

Ontario Ministry of Education Review of the Gifted Definition
for release in 2015
The Ministry of Education is currently reviewing definitions for categories of exceptionalities used in Special Education in Ontario. The Gifted definition is also currently under review and ABC Ontario met with Barry Finlay, Director of the Special Education Policy and Program Branch and Paul Grogan, Education Officer, on March 27, 2015.
The release of the new definition is expected soon and ABC Ontario has requested the opportunity to provide feedback as a stakeholder for the Ministry's new Guidelines for implementation to school boards, which would follow afterwards.
A letter to the Minister of Education from ABC Ontario with this request was sent March 30, 2015.
